More on LP & ME ‘What is the truth Identities withheld’
Hi
And so it goes on as per the following sufferers experience:
I
had a similar experience with it and made myself almost bed bound and
seriously in pain through
continuing with it when I should have given it up much earlier,
inevitably they put the blame on you if it fails to work. I wouldn't
call it brainwashing but it is using sports psychology, suggestion,
positive thinking/visualisation and what I'd call intensive CBT and GET
in a way, totally inappropriate for a biochemical illness (they don't
care what you have it's all about the money). Below is a copy/paste of
an explanation off healthboards.com.
The Lightning Process Revealed For All To Read
The marketing of 'The Lightning Process' makes two extremely critical errors. First, they charge a ridiculous amount of money for a technique that should be free information. This is not only highly immoral, but also very suspicious behaviour. Second, they have 'newbie' solicitors going all over many CFS forums claiming to have been cured themselves or know others who have, but completely refuse to reveal the techniques to others for any number of senseless reasons.
Therefore, I will serve to remedy this situation right now for all of you. As a result of someone who has graciously offered this information to me after much searching coupled with my own research, here is "The Lightning Process" fully explained free of charge for all to read and use.
* The key to the process is getting rid of stress in your body by eliminating negative thoughts associated with your illness. Examples of these thoughts are:
I'll feel awful later if I do something.
I feel ok now, but what about later?
Why can they do stuff that I can't do?
I'm so tired/ill.
This will never work! etc.
* Every time you have a remotely negative thought or a thought that relates to being ill, you have to say to yourself:
1. STOP! (and do a stop like action. In therapy this actually involves writing 'Stop' on a piece of paper, putting it on the floor, and jumping on it to reinforce the action)
2. Do I want to be sick or do I want a life I love?
3. I want a life I love.
4. Well done (this action of rewarding yourself is very important)
5. What do you want?
6. I want to feel/be ....... (must be something positive that relates to how well you want to feel)
7. How are you going to do that?
8. I'm going to visualize a time when I felt like this (there is always a time somewhere in your memory when you can remember how good it felt to be well and feel well. Make this visualization as vivid as possible by imagining the smells, sights, sounds, etc. Do this with your eyes closed and re-live the memory vividly. Use several different memories if you can.)
* If you have a negative thought at any time during this process, you must stop and start again.
* Repeat this process over and over as often as possible for any negative thought that comes to mind.
Well folks, that is it. Not so mysterious after all, is it? I hope some of you find wellness with this

I did the LP; it helped me; and I think keeping it a secret is misguided. I do think though that it's hard to capture it in writing because it's an interactive process with a trainer. It's like the difference between reading a self-help book and going for counselling.
Having said that, there are a few things I can add to what you've written.
When you do this process, you are physically moving around to different places two of which are marked, "the pit" and "a life you love". You really are moving into a position where you choose one over the other. I think this is important to get it into your head for later on when you do all this mentally.
I've found that if I do this in my head now, when I reach the point of choosing "a life I love" my shoulders go back and my head goes up. Given what we know about how posture affects mood I think that matters.
When you've chosen the "life I love" position, you are in coach mode, and there are a number of things you tell yourself to encourage yourself, not just "well done". You really need to emphasise that this is going to happen.
The response to "what do you want?" needs to be something that includes a vivid image, e.g. "I want to be full of energy like the Duracell bunny". Then you take yourself back to a time when you felt like that, or you "borrow" someone else's experience to truly feel that feeling. I used to take myself back to when I did springboard diving! Such energy I felt! This is a bit like anchoring in NLP. I found my trainer was a great help in finding creative images.
You can also whoosh that feeling forward to the future and feel what it's like when this is an established part of your life.
The speed of change helped me a lot. If I start to go downhill now I remind myself of how ill I was and how radical the change was after the first day of LP. I tell myself "if I could do that, I can do anything!" and it really helps.
You get three days of personal training, a CD, some phone follow-up, and a follow-up day, all included in the price. It's much easier to do when you've worked with someone face to face who can help you notice what you're doing that helps and what doesn't. Telling you about it now I'm missing out quite a lot of bits because I can't fit it all in or I'd be here all day writing this! If you compare the hourly cost with counselling it compares pretty favourably.
If you can't afford the LP, or don't feel that it is right for you, then I believe that the GUPTA programme has helped a lot of people. I understand that it goes more slowly because it's mostly by DVDs, it costs less, and there is a money-back guarantee.
The LP was what I needed when I needed it but I know that isn't true for everyone. My son got better with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from a gifted therapist at King's College Hospital and I know people who have recovered using a number of different means. To anyone who is reading this and has ME/CFS, I hope you find something that is the right thing for you!
