How to cope with stress and anxiety.

Hello

I took this off, a conversation from This Morning program.

We all suffer from the above, the following steps, can you help you overcome it.

A small amount of stress is good for you, it helps us to strive and succeed, but these days, we are in the constant, fight or flight mode, and our body doesn't get the chance to recover, which leads to chronic illnesses.

Here are some ways, to recover from the stress and anxiety, I hope they help:

Reading, can be relaxing, as long as you are reading the right thing!

Before going to bed, spend some time, reading a favourite book, to help you unwind, and fall asleep, a better nights sleep, makes a big difference.

Breathing, obviously we all do it every day, without thinking, but keep in the now moment, and breath slowly, this will help reduce both your anxiety and stress levels.

Bathing, before going to bed, have a nice long soak, think, about the good things that have happened during the day,  if you are anxious, about things, write them down, and put them in a box, and forget about them for the night, then way up refreshed, and tackle them, the next day.

Another way, if thoughts, are keeping you awake, is to concentrate on your breathing, rather than the thoughts, you will be asleep in no time doing this.

Spend time in nature, this is always calming.

Spend time with friends/family, talk things out, don't bottle things up, that gets you no where.

Reduce caffeine to 2 cups a day, after that, drinking mint tea, keeps you alert, without the jittery feeling.

Reframe stress in your mind, to excitement.

Try yoga and kick boxing.
