I'm not a celebrity, but I feel like one!

I'm not a celebrity, but I look like one!

Hello

If you have been following my story, you will know, that I have been in and out of hospital recently, and in doing so, I have found ways of coping, that I hope will help you too.
My operation, was meant to be a day job, but due to the ME, it became a night one too!
I was brought down at 10pm, to be looked after by staff, everyone was asleep, and rightly so, it was night time after all, so nurses and I whispered, so as to not wake anyone up.
The lady next to me, had flashing lights by her bed, here we go again, but this time, I am not going to be defeating, I have come prepared, so I put on my dark glasses, in the  dark! and my really thick       ear defenders, to block out the bleeping machines)  to keep the seizures, at bay, and it worked. I felt like a celebrity, trying to hide, but really I was trying to avoid problems.

One thing, I found really helped was the article I have posted on here, to help you, but my dad, had kindly scanned it into his computer and changed the heading, feel free to copy and paste this into a word document, and print it off should you need it.

The subject can be ME the evident
ME the facts, or one you make up yourself. I found, that by presenting this article to staff, it helped them to help me, so much, that they did obs on me every hour throughout the night.

This article is taken from Interaction, I hope it helps people. I am going to do this article over several days, as there is a lot to digest in it, but feel free to share it with folks.

Do you have people, that you know, that thinks that ME is all in the mind, then show them this article.

These finding show that the illness is not fake, in anyway, here is how we know.

  1. People with ME have deficiencies in 3 organs important for the body’s hormonal balances called the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axix. Importantly, the deficiencies observed in ME patients are quite different to that seen in depression.
  2. Cognitive problems are widely observed in ME, where the brains ability to process information is slowed and memory is impaired. Importantly, the impairments are simply not consistent with the presence of psychiatric disorders.
3. The latest fMI imaging findings show that the brains of people with ME have different responses to auditory/visual changes and in memory. ME patients also have altered connectivity between different brain regions, possibly explaining why they have cognitive impairment.

4. The latest brain imaging studies also demonstrate that people with ME have widespread brain inflammation, and increased brain lactate. Spinal fluid in ME also contains increased levels of proteins involved in tissue injury and repair.

5. Its not complicated, people with ME lack energy because their cells have a problem generating , and or possibly using, energy from oxygen, sugars lipids and amino acids.

6. Many studies have reported that \ME patients have immune problems.

7. \\lastly, multiple studies have shown that with exercise, people with ME become sicker, they have increase levels of proinflammatory cytokines, have a lower heart rate, blood pressure and lower aerobic metabolism.

I hope this article has helped.

Miriam
