How diet can affect your sleep.

 Hello

The information below, was taken from the Program, the Secrets of Your Supermarket Shop, Channel 5 on the 3rd February, it was on several topics, but I took the relevant ones out.

When they talk about sleep, they talk generally, I am aware that part of ME is sleep disturbance, so these tips, may or may not help, as always, customize it to your needs.

A bad nights sleep can lead to all sorts of bad habits, the following may help you to get a better one.

The lack of sleep can affect your immune system, and can lead to chronic long term health conditions.

How to eat well to sleep well.

If you have 4 hours sleep or less over a period of time, you will get sick, that's obvious and common sense really, at the very least, you are a walking zombie!

3 things, that will stop you having a good nights sleep.

Caffeine

Alcohol

Fried food and take aways

All these things, will put your body in constant stress, and so wired, the whole time, so when you do sleep, it will be the very light sleep, where as a deep sleep is required, to refresh you for the morning.

Caffeine

Affects your first sleep cycle, so you don't sleep so deeply.

Alcohol

Affects the bodies rejuvenation cycle, while you sleep.

Take aways, and fried food

Increases your heart rate

Ways to solve these problems

Don't have caffeine after lunch time, a mint tea, is just as refreshing as caffeine.

Only drink 1 unit of alcohol, 3 hours before going to bed, and no later

Don't have heavy meals, 2 hours before going to bed.

Cheese before bed can give you a better nights sleep.

I hope this helps.

Miriam
