Hello
I have recently watched Secrets of your Supermarket shop, and it was very revealing.
They looked at cost of getting fresh fruit and vegetables
I realise with many of you, you can't get to a shop, so it may involve sending someone out to get it for you
I start with the most expensive, and work my way down.
The most expensive is
The local convenience shop, the service is personal, but the fruit and vegetables are often more expensive.
Second, surprisely, the supermarket is the next most expensive
Third, the farm shop.
Fourth, being the cheapest now, the market, this being said, often the market food, does go off quicker.
Fibre
They also said, the foods with the most fibre are:
Peas
Kidney beans
Baked beans.
They also said there are a lot of marketing gimmicks in the supermarkets.
1. Super food, is a gimmick and nothing more, it means nothing, other than an excuse to put food prices up, and it works.
2. Low fat, low calorie, no fat, low salt, you name it, its all a gimmick, instead, look at the traffic light system on the
packaging, to get the reality.
3. Vitamins, you can get anything from shop brand, to high end brand, they all do the same thing!
Shop brand is cheaper, so you can buy them, and save money.
4. High percentage, vitamins, your body will take what it wants, and the rest comes out in your wee, that could be expensive wee.
I hope this helps.
Miriam
