Cost of living crisis Q & A

 Hello

The following was taken from Morning Live yesterday, (13th June 2022) on BBC 1 at 9.15am.

What am I entitled to, with the government package?

£400 to be given to each household, via their gas and electric supplier, this autumn.

£650 to be given to those on means tested benefits

£300 one off to pension households

£150 for people who are disabled and on disabled benefits.

Now the questions and answers.

Pension payment is £300 each household, is the pension payment, on top of the winter fuel allowance?

Yes

2 children with disability benefits, are both paid £150?

Yes, but depending on when you applied for them, will depend on when you get them.

If you applied for both at the same time, they will get £300.

If you applied for them at different times to each others, they will get £150 each, rather than the £300 at the same time.

Disabled and on contribution based ESA, can I get the £650 grant?

If you are on the old style ESA, you will receive it.

If you are on the new style, you won't, unless you are claiming universal credit.

What about housing benefit?

No, unless it is part of the universal credit package

If you receive legacy benefits?

Yes

I don't pay for gas and electricity via direct debit, will I get the £400?

Yes, it doesn't matter, how you pay it, it, will be credits to your account with whoever the supplier is.

My wife gets PIP, and is a pensioner, does this mean we get the disability and pension payment?

Yes

I hope this helps.

Miriam
