A complete guide to drying your clothes in doors

 Hello

We are now into autumn, and will probably have many wet days ahead of us, as we change season,  so for the wet days, how do you dry your clothes inside without adding damp and mould into your home.

First, and most important rule, have your windows open in the room/s you are drying your clothes, the damp from the clothes has to go somewhere, you can get a big jug full of water from the clothes, so by using an open window and a dehumidifier, it will stop it clinging to the walls.

Now for the methods

Tumble driers are an excellent way to dry them quickly, but you can't put woollies in them, they will shrink, and they cost a fortune to run.

The answer? You can now get head pump tumble driers, that do a great job, and don't cost as much.

Spinning washing

Why not add an extra spin or two, in your washing machine, after you have washed your clothes, that will take out excess water.

Heated airers.

I have one of these, and they are excellent at drying clothes. Just put it on, put the clothes on them, cover the clothes with a towel, to absorb the water from the clothes, and leave them there an hour or so, they should be dry by then, unless the clothes are thick, go back to your  area, check to see how dry they are, if they are damp, they can be taken off, and put in the airing cupboard to finish off, then put another lot of clothes on them.

Manual airer

These can take forever, have them stand by a window, put your under near the bottom of them. Wait for them to dry.

The alternative is to keep an eye on the weather through an app, and only wash things on sunny days, with a bit of wind as well, to help your clothes dry faster.

I hope this helps.
