ESA and energy prices
Hello
First of all, sooner or later, we are all going onto ESA, so I have been researching it, I hope the information I give you helps.
I have done several posts on this, you can look through my blog, to find the others.
For today, I am talking about the first part.
Once you have sent the form off, within 13 weeks, you will receive a letter back, it is very generic, hard to understand, and does not really tell you much!
If you receive a letter saying that you are going into the 'work related group' don't panic, we all are!

Unless you are pregnant, or have a terminal illness, this is what happens, the next stage is to be sent a letter detailing when your assessment is going to be, this gives you the opportunity to show what you can and cannot do, if you are on disability living allowance, be sure, to show them a copy of the letter detailing this, it will work in your favour.
Action4me, have kindly put together an easy to read guide, is it very helpful, be sure to read it.
Once you have had the assessment they will then decide, if you need to have the practical medical as well, after doing all this, they will then decide whether you go into the support group, or the work group.
I would recommend that when you have the assessment, you have someone with you, who knows what you are like, on a day to day basis, it all helps.

Do you text alot?

Sorry I have not done an update for a while, I spent the best part of 3 weeks, in bed, being really bad with ME, oh the joys of.... anyway, during the few minutes, I was able to get up, I found the following, I hope it helps you.
On my bad ME days, I find texting is the main way of communication for me, as it is not so tiring.
If you send several in one day, the cost can mount up, but if you spend £10.00 or more on texting each month, there is a way of doing it cheaper.
Is it a scam?
Well it is run by Tesco so I hope not, for each time you top up your Tesco Sim card, with £10.00 in any given month, they give you an additional £20.00 for free.
Yes, to get the credit, you do have to pay £10.00 a month, they will also give you a sim card for free, and help you to unblock your phone to have their sim card, and transfer your phone number, it really is a win/win, then you can text as much as you want, energy permitting, without having to worry about the cost.
If one month, you don't text £10.00 worth, that is fine, you are just charged the standard text fee, and don't get the extra £20.00 free.

Afme, has just started a new project, it is a two year project to raise understanding and awareness of the illness by developing online audio/video and internet services.
Here are the details.
The ME Assocation has just published the results of probably the largest-ever survey of opinion among people with ME/CFS and their carers about what treatments and therapies work for them and what don't are available here for downloading. The survey also shows what people with the illness want from their health and social care providers. They are contained in a 32-page report called 'Managing my ME', which was published by The ME Association on 27 May 2010.

Have you heard yet?

Last weekend, I encouraged folks to contact their MP's, with regards to getting the government to take our needs seriously, the Afme website, has a ME manifesto, together with contact details of your MP, and template letter you can send.

Today, I had a letter from my MP, Rob Wilson, as I have said before, he is an excellent MP, very responsive, and does what he is paid to do.
He has taken the manifesto on board, and will be meeting up with the minister responsible for health within the next two weeks, to discuss this important issue, I will let you know, how it goes.
I am not saying this to blow my own trumpet, but to encourage folks to do the same. You may think, that just one person doing it, won't make a difference, but if lots of 1 people do it, it will make a difference, we vote them in, so make the most of them.

Have ME? Concerned about Swine Flu?

OK, we maybe sick to death, hearing about it, but Swine flu, is a real concern for some folks, and if that includes you, both Afme and The ME Association, have done a piece on it, to help you.
Do you find preparing meals difficult, I know I do, on 'bad ME days', and for a while now, I have been looking for a ready made meal company, who does good meals, at a reasonable price, with my special dietary needs and now I have found it, welcome to Wiltshire Farms, I ordered their catalogue online, and it was with me in days, I ordered the goods by post, although you can do it, via snail mail, telephone or over the internet, and it was with me in days, they came with a welcome pack, put the food in the freezer, then all I do is, take it out of the freezer and put it straight into the microwave or oven, eat it, wash out the plastic container, then put it in recycling! If you do go for them, please do let me know how you get on, thanks.
Did you enjoy going to Church services before becoming ill, and now miss it, I know I do, but a friend recommended, a site to me, that has its' service broadcast live each Sunday, at the normal service times, you just go online, and click the link, I listen to them in bed, and when I have had enough, I just put the mute button on, so you have Church in your own home. They also, have an archive with older Churches services too. Here is the site.

Judicial Review, the pain of ME! and the petition.

I must admit, that the last few weeks, have been tough, I have had alot of pain, and some days, have not been able to walk, now it is down to a twinge, I can cope with that!
I was saddened to see that we failed at the judicial review, with the government winning, we wait and see what happens, for up to date information on this, please check the Afme and MEA websites.
I have also wanted to do a video for You Tube members, re signing the petition, to the government, for more resources to be put in for our cause, when I am a bit better, I will aim to do that. I sent the information to my local rag, the Reading Chronicle, so we see what happens there.
I think that is all for now.
